The 'Dawson Lyle' Diaries - 'Dairy of Two Cats'!

Published by Kim, Dawson & Amelia on

Once upon a time there were two kitty cats....Dawson and Max - passionately known as Daws and Maxy, (Actually there is four kitty cats.)  All short haired domestic. Two grey males.....buddies, neighbours, garden mates  - Dawson and Maxy.  Added to the picture is Amelia and Leroy - passionately known as George and Amal - the love story of two cats, black cats.........also neighbours of the same garden.  The creative cat minds of their carers - present an unfolding story from Melbourne's Isolation and Covid 19, the year of 2020. Hope you will laugh sometimes with tears reading their little ongoing story - as we have done in creating 'The diary of two cats'.

THE SETTING:

There is a big garden in a suburb of Melbourne that has lots of trees, birds, animals and even some special little creatures (like gnomes and fairies).

Leroy and Max are “sort of” housemates – they are both adopted and not related and live in the house.
Leroy is a big black sleek boy who enjoys being in the garden.

Max is a little grey tabby tubby chubby – he sometimes sits at the back door of the house, but does not like to venture too far into the big garden.

Amelia is a beautiful black “girl cat” and Dawson is her half-brother, is a sleek grey tabby.

They live in the cottage at the bottom of the garden and have a special sun-deck gymnasium.

LEROY (Alias “Mr Cool”)

Ever since he set eyes on Princess Amelia he has been enchanted.

Every morning he jumps up onto the tin roof of the garden shed to sun himself – and also to see if he can catch a glimpse of Amelia when she comes out onto their sundeck. He can just see the sundeck / kitty gym from the shed roof if he stretches his neck.

He always hopes she might glance in his direction – but she never does – so, he just curls himself up into a black ball….and mopes….

Oh how wonderful it would be, “Moon Dancing” with Princess Amelia, their sleek black coats reflecting the rays of the moon, all the little garden creatures watching entranced….

But….she never looks his way.

AMELIA VERONICA (A Beautiful Princess)

Amelia is quite busy for a Princess, she has to make sure that Dawson has left his plate nice and clean, and if he hasn’t, she has to clean it up herself so he does not get into trouble (not too good for a Princess’s waistline). She also has to help her Mother with lots of jobs – at the moment they are packing Cat Christmas stockings.

Does she know Leroy exists? Or is she just pretending not to notice.

DAWSON LYLE (A Young Man with a Bright Future)

Dawson’s Mum has let him have his own Instagram account – so now he knows he is going to be famous one day. Possibly also rich, in which case Amelia will be pestering him for a clothing and jewellery allowance.

MAX BLAKE ("Maxy")

Max is an earnest little chap who just loves to be helpful and give advice.

Max is unaware that Leroy thinks he is a great “go-between” regarding Amelia.

Recently, Leroy has been asking Max to find out from Dawson if Amelia has kept a tiny Magpie feather he found in the garden and passed  to Max to give to Dawson with a message for Amelia.
