A Special Vita-Mineral 'Mouse' Mix for Yours Cat's Vitality Health & Wellness for the Natural Cat Diet.

So many options and brands are available in today's pet food market. Tin food, dry food, sachet wet food, prescription diet food, frozen pet food, freeze-dried food, fresh raw or cooked options. Trying and seeing what you cat likes is a good start, with reference to your pet vet professional and then having some variety in their diet that is healthy.
Not all of the best canned foods or newer frozen and freeze-dried natural cat foods are perfect due to either the processing by heat or not being fresh. Many vitamins and minerals are destroyed by the heat process.
Cats predominantly hunted and killed in the wild - Mice being on the top of their preferred menu. They eat the whole mouse and therefore get their full dietary needs from the bone (calcium), stomach (containing predigested grains full of Vitamin B and enzymes) to the whiskers and hair (which is roughage, protein and minerals)....all at mouse temperature and of course... fresh.
If you have chosen to feed your precious fur fluff a raw diet - some 'Missing Fresh Mouse Links' can very easily be purchased from your local health food store to create the mix and have added to your cat's raw food diet to supplement the 'missing mouse' element therefore enhancing their dietary needs and improving skin, fur and coat quality.
The contents of this mix will be determined by your cat's health and pre existing medical conditions which will show up in annual their blood tests. I.e. do not add bonemeal to your cat's diet if they have high calcium levels. Your pet herbalist can confirm any mix that you may decide to add to their raw meal. Dawson & Amelia refer to their mix as their 'Mouse Mix Fix' (also known as Anitra Frazier's Vita-Mineral Mix from her book 'The Natural Cat') - a book every cat owner should have.
The Mix includes the following:-
- Wheat Bran - 2 cups (minerals and roughage substituting mouse hair)
- Lecithin Granules - 1 cup (emulsify fatty wastes, great for dandruff and coat texture).
- Kelp Powder - 1/4 cup (for increased Iodine to diet )
- Calcium Gluconate or Bonemeal - 1 cup (for increased calcium)
- Yeast Powder - 1.5 cups (raises protein levels, replaces some amino acids and increases vitamin B that they would get from mouse's stomach contents).
Mix the contents (accept the lecithin granules which should stay at room temperature) and then store remaining mix in a covered container in the fridge.
Add 1/2 - 1 teaspoon of the Mix to each cat's meal daily - i.e. 2 x meals a day then 1-2 teaspoons of the mix a day. Add to your own human diet ( in your morning shake) and notice the difference in your hair, skin and nails.
Additional Supplement options for kitty:-
- One vitamin E 400-unit capsule per week. I puncture one of my Vitamin E capsules (stored in the fridge) and squeeze the oil contents one each onto Dawson & Amelia's food each week.
- A daily good cat multivitamin
- Omega Oil Blend (Vitamin A D and E) - here
